NRA - Summer Program

Murray State College, in cooperation with the National Rifle Association, began offering gunsmithing and law enforcement armorer schools in the summer of 1994. The school offers courses in repair & function of rifles, auto pistols, revolvers, and shotguns. Other classes include bluing, re-barreling, alternative finishes, stock repair and refinishing, and more. These classes are not college accredited at this time. Each student receives a certificate for each class attended.

The Registration form is a google document form where you fill it out, submit it, and it will automatically be sent to the email shopson@mscok.edu. MAKE SURE TO HIT "SUBMIT" AT THE BOTTOM OF THE GOOGLE DOC FORM WHEN FINISHED. Just as previous years, hold payment until notified. Payment will not be processed until we know that we have enough attendance to offer a class (or 1-2 weeks before start date). Payment methods include cash, credit card, and check. Cash and credit card are preferred. If sending a check, make it payable to MSC/NRA Summer Program. If there are any questions, please call 580-387-7480 or email shopson@mscok.edu. If mailing a hard copy form in addition to submitting the google doc link, send it to:

We are offering campus housing for summer 2025!

We are offering campus housing for summer 2025! It will be McKee Hall - on campus on the east side of the gunsmithing building. The cost is $60 per person, per night. Payment will be taken for housing at the same time as payment for classes - pay for housing and classes together. This will be about 1-2 weeks before the start of a class.

HOUSING REGISTRATION

McKee Hall is a typical dorm style set up - shared room with a roommate. Please refence the floor plan.

We do not know the finer details, yet, like check in & out procedures. Check out is usually by 5pm on the final day of class (Thursday or Friday).

Each dorm is equipped with:

  •  2 Twin Beds (maybe twin xl) (emphasis on TWIN)
  •  2 Closets
  •  2 Desks
  •  shared mini fridge
  •  and a shared floor bathroom

The bathroom will have multiple stalls and showers, but it is a shared floor bathroom - the whole floor shares the bathroom area.

These are campus dorms intended for college students at Murray State College, not hotels (emphasis on NOT hotels). These are bare, empty rooms, except for the furniture provided as stated above.
