The Murray State College Foundation has been awarded a $4,000 Rural Oklahoma Community Grant from the Drummond Family Foundation Fund at the Oklahoma City Community Foundation. This grant will provide vital support to the Foundation’s ongoing efforts to serve Johnston County youth through early literacy programs.
Established in 2020 to honor the charitable legacy of Alfred A. Drummond, the Drummond Family Foundation Fund is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in rural southeastern Oklahoma. The Rural Oklahoma Community Grants Program supports projects that make a meaningful impact in small communities across the region.
“This generous support from the Drummond Family Foundation Fund allows us to continue nurturing a love of reading at the very start of a child’s educational journey,” said Jordyn Frazier, Murray State College Foundation Executive Director. “We are honored to receive this grant and grateful for the Foundation’s investment in our community’s future.”
The Murray State College Foundation currently serves 325 children in Johnston County, Oklahoma, through the Imagination Library program, which provides free books to children from birth to age five. The additional funding will help the Foundation expand its reach and further promote early childhood literacy in the area.
“Early literacy is one of the strongest indicators of lifelong success,” said Dr. Tim Faltyn, Murray State College President. “This investment helps us uplift our youngest learners and underscores the vital role Murray State plays in supporting families and communities in rural Oklahoma.”
