Murray State College to select six students for prestigious academic tuition-waiver program

December 20, 2021

Murray State College has been awarded funding to support six students with tuition waivers and monetary stipends for the 2022-23 academic year.  The Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education grant funding for this program to all colleges and universities in Oklahoma.  Students chosen to receive the awards at Murray State must enroll for the fall after high school graduation.   Selection is based on test scores and academic ranking in high school.

The awards offer tuition waivers for two years at Murray State and two years at a four-year higher education institution in Oklahoma.  The award also includes a monetary stipend of $1,100 per semester for both years at MSC as long as a GPA of 3.25 is maintained.  Monetary awards transfer with students after graduation from Murray State College and increase at four-year institutions.

“We want parents and students to know that this award is available.  It’s something most parents dream of when thinking of how to finance a college education.  This award is unique in that it transfers with students to pay tuition for all four years of college.  The monetary stipend is an added bonus as well,” said MSC President Joy McDaniel.

To qualify, students must have at least a 3.7 GPA in high school and a 26 on the ACT or be named valedictorian or salutatorian in high school with a GPA of 3.7 or higher, or have an ACT composite score of 29 or higher.  To be considered for the award at Murray State, students should apply to Murray and fill out a scholarship application through the Murray State College Scholarship portal at

Students must maintain a 3.25 GPA and complete at least 24 credit hours per year to retain the award.  The program is transferable to an approved Oklahoma college or university of the student’s choice upon completion of an associate degree or 48 credit hours at Murray.  Students interested in attending Murray State are encouraged to apply as soon as possible following receipt of ACT scores and GPA or announcement of valedictorian/salutatorian status.
