MSC recruitment coordinator Katie Carroll wins OACC award for creative excellence

November 06, 2020

Murray State College and MSC Recruitment Coordinator Katie Carroll have been recognized by the Oklahoma Association of Community Colleges (OACC) for excellence in innovation.  During its 2020 virtual annual meeting, OACC staff announced Carroll as winner of the Creative Staff Innovation (CSI) Award which was developed to recognize creativity and groundbreaking ideas.

The yearly competition is open to all full- and part-time community college employees who belong to the association.  A panel of peer reviewers judge entries based on an opportunity for engagement, creative solutions and evidence of impact on the institution.

Carroll’s submission detailed the Murray State College “All in Aggies” podcast which is set to begin next semester.    The podcast will focus on campus events and feature interviews with students and staff members as well as current and potential students.

“We applaud the OACC for recognizing the importance of innovation and creativity, and we congratulate Ms. Carroll on being selected to receive one of this year’s top awards,” said MSC President Joy McDaniel.

Carroll, a Tishomingo native and Murray State College alumnae, graduated from Oklahoma State University in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business.  She graduated in 2018 from Murray State College with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Business.  As both a high school and college student, she was active in 4-H, FFA, FCLA, Phi Beta Lambda and the MSC President's Scholars Program.
