Lynn Colbert Scholarships available for Stephens County students at Murray State
March 05, 2020
High school students graduating this year in Stephens County are encouraged to apply for Lynn Colbert Charitable Foundation scholarship funds at Murray State College. The late Lynn Colbert established his foundation to help Stephens County students fund their dreams of higher education.
“Murray State owes a great debt of gratitude to the late Lynn Colbert for a legacy gift that has helped so many attend college. He was a progressive thinker who wanted his life’s work to live on forever through the success of students at Murray State,” said MSC President Joy McDaniel.
Students from Stephens County are given top priority in the selection process and must enroll in at least 12 hours. Those living on campus can receive scholarship funds for room and board. Off-campus students will receive $1,000 scholarships, split between fall and spring semesters.
“All Stephens County students are given top priority and encouraged to apply. This scholarship is partially based to some extent on a student’s ACT (typically 20 or above) and GPA (typically above 3.0), but financial need and special talents are also considered," said MSC Executive Director for Financial Aid Dr. Aaron Elmer.
To apply for Lynn Colbert Charitable Foundation scholarships at Murray State, students must first apply for admission to the college at mscok.edu and then complete a scholarship application through the AcademicWorks portal at https://mscok.academicworks.com/.
