Following bye week, Aggie men’s basketball return to play against Western Okla. State

Coming off a bye week, the Murray State Men’s Basketball Team came into their game February 7 against regional rival Western Oklahoma State looking to extend their winning streak to 11 games. The Aggies came into Friday’s match up with 18 wins and three losses overall and 9 and zero in Region II play.
Murray State, who defeated the Pioneers on their home court January 6 in the first half of regional play, dominated the game early, jumping out to a 48-20 halftime lead. Western Oklahoma State strung together multiple rallies in the second half, but were unable to slow down the surging Aggies who held on to win the game 93-67. Murray State was led in scoring by sophomore Shem’mario Stephens and freshman Jerry Carraway who each had 16 points in the game. Freshman Jaylan Thomas had 15 points and seven rebounds and sophomore Kyle Murray had 11 points, eight assists and two blocks. Sophomore Adam Gourro led the Aggies off the bench with eight rebounds and three blocks while also scoring four points. The win moves the Aggies to ten wins and zero losses in regional play, helping them maintain the top spot in the region.Next, Murray State College travels to Wilburton on Monday, February 10 to take on the Eastern Oklahoma State College Mountaineers who are looking to avenge their 10-point loss to the Aggies on January 9. The Mountaineers are currently averaging 99 points and 50 rebounds a game.
