INTERNET BROWSERS

Instructors generally recommend that students use Microsoft Word for papers and assignments. These programs offer the greatest common denominator in terms of sending documents across different platforms. Sometimes, specific courses will have specific recommendations about software.  See your course syllabus for specifics about required software.

Browsers: A browser is a software program that sends a request for information to another computer, usually a web server.  The browser interprets the information it receives, then displays it in a way the viewer can understand.

We recommend you use Internet Explorer (IE) 6 or higher.

If you have any questions please call Bill Adams at 580-371-2371 ext. 138.

Make certain that your browser it is Java and JavaScript enabled. This usually requires checking a box or choosing this capacity in an options box under the tools or properties menu.

INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDERS OR ISPs- Your Connection to the Internet

The ISP is certainly a required element of an online course because it is the computer connection to the Internet.  To find an ISP in your area code, go to: http://thelist.internet.com/areacode.html.
