I became Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education (ACCE) for the Murray State College Physical Therapist Assistant Program in 1996.  It is my job to coordinate the clinical education component of the program.  I am responsible for the development of all clinical education sites and to support clinical instructors for our students.  Clinical education is a major part of all physical therapy education programs, because it is where students learn to apply the information they have learned in class.  Prior to my becoming an instructor in the program, I served on the advisory board that worked to develop the program.  I am proud to have helped develop the PTA program from it's beginning.

I was born and grew up in Ada, Oklahoma. I attended college at East Central University and then University of Oklahoma where I received a Bachelor’s of Science degree and a Certificate in Physical Therapy in 1968. I completed a Master’s Degree in Behavioral Science at Southeastern Oklahoma University in 1981. I have practiced in many areas of the profession.  My current clinical interest is in the practice of physical therapy in home health care.

I live in Durant, Oklahoma about 30 miles from Tishomingo, Oklahoma. My husband is also a physical therapist and we have two grown sons. My older son lives in Japan and teaches English as a second language and my younger son is married and lives in Durant and is a Microsoft Network Engineer at a bank in Durant.

My style of teaching is strongly mentoring and affirming. I believe in giving the student a strong sense of control over themselves and their abilities. The student should take responsibility and is the master of their own fate.
