The following information is provided to share the current status of the Murray State College Physical Therapist Assistant program with all interested individuals.  This information is reflects the status of the PTA program as of January 2010.

  1. How many classes have graduated from the PTA program? The program began in 1996, so the first graduating class was the 1996/1997 class.  We have graduated a class each year since that time.  As of  the time of preparing this information, we have had thirteen classes complete the program. 
  2. Have students that have been accepted into the program been able to complete the program?   With the current class (09/10) we have had a total of 211 students accepted into the program and have 192 graduates.  This results in 90% of students accepted into the program complete the program. 

  3. Have graduates of this program been successful on licensure  examination? Of the total number of graduates (192), 164 are currently licensed PTA’s at the time of preparing this update.  Information regarding program performance can be located at the FSBPT web site.  We are pleased with the success of our graduates.  

  4. Surveys of graduates report a high level of job satisfaction.  Graduates report high job satisfaction and are employed at very competitive salaries.  The current class has 14 students are expected to complete the technical portion of the program in August, 2010.   Recent survey results show that 100% of students responding report that they are satisfied with the PTA program.

The Murray State College PTA program was accredited initially April 1997.  As part of the normal accreditation process, the program went  through RE-ACCREDITATION in 2002, the program was granted Accreditation by The Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) for a period of ten years.   The current accreditation period lasts through December 31, 2012.

In its Summary of Action dated October 30, 2002, the Commission (CAPTE) cited the following about the Murray State College PTA program:

    1)    MSC student graduation rate above average.

    2)    MSC student performance on licensure examination above average.

    3)    MSC graduate employment above average.

    4)    The program graduates are meeting the mission of the program.

Since our overall mission is to promote the success of our graduates, we are especially pleased with the last statement (#4 above).
