  Web 1213 Home Page

This is the Home Page for students enrolled in Web 1213.  If you are a student accessing this page for the first time, please take a moment to familiarize yourself thoroughly with its contents. It contains links to all the Sections, as well as the other main sections of this Website, and much useful information about the class.

The literature book from previous semesters has been replaced by a Course Packet that takes the form of a series of pdf files.  The pdf files are located in the modular Sections of the Web 1213 Course Site.  You will have to download these files.  I recommend that you print them.  Printing will make the material easier to work with.

Note 1: The first two parts of the packet (PACK1 and PACK2) have numbered pages.  Make sure your printed pages are numbered.  The big handwritten numbers in the top right-hand corner of each page are the correct numbers.  If these numbers did not print, you will need to hand-number the pages after you print them.  The Estrich article is on pages 1 and 2 in the first pdf file.  The second pdf file begins with the Christensen article on pages 3 and 4 and goes on from there.  You should have a total of 12 pages when you are done.  When you do Work Cited entries for the essays in either of these first two parts of the Course Packet, you will use the MLA format for A Work in an Anthology.  The necessary information is provided in the modular Section of the course in which the pdf file is embedded.

Note 2: Beginning with Section 4, the pdf files that make up the remainder of the Course Packet do not have page numbers.  When you do Work Cited entries for any of the essays or stories in these files, you will use the MLA format for a web-based entry.

Note 3: In order to download the Course Packet, you will need the Adobe Acrobat Reader (if you do not already have a version of it loaded on your computer).

  SUBMISSION PROCEDURE

Note: In order to submit essays for Web 1213 and have them evaluated, you must be a student in good standing at Murray State College, be officially enrolled in Web 1213, and follow the procedure described below.

All essays must conform to the guidelines listed in the Statement of Policy on the Web 1213 Course Page.  If you have not yet read the Statement of Policy, please do so now.  Essays that violate these guidelines will not be accepted.

All assignments MUST be submitted as an attachment to an e-mail message.

This e-mail message MUST contain—in the big blank Message portion at the bottom, not on the Subject line in the Heading section at the top—the following information: the Student's Name, the Section Number, the Outline/Paper Number, and whether or not the attached assignment is a revision.  Most students just type their paper heading into the Message section of the e-mail to which their assignment is attached.  For example:

John Smith

Section 2

Formal Outline for Paper 1

Not a revision

Submissions which do not follow ALL of the above requirements will be deleted, unread.

  GETTING AROUND

Web 1213 students should bookmark the Web 1213 Home Page and use it as their base for approaching and completing each section of the course.

In the blue and white table at the top of this page you will find information specific to the page and links to all Course Pages, the Index page for the site, and the Murray State College Home Page.

In the white and blue table directly below you will find links to all the Sections of Internet-based Composition II.  Each Section is set up using exactly the same format.

The Sections contain the reading assignments for Web 1213, specific information about all outline and paper assignments for Web 1213, as well as PowerPoint presentations that explain the background information necessary to completing the assignments.

You cannot possibly pass this course without accessing the Sections, and viewing the PowerPoint presentations.
