The trained Veterinary Technician works as an important part of the veterinary medical team. Duties will include all facets of veterinary medicine, except diagnosis, prescribing medication and performing surgery. Many graduate technicians will assist the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in surgery and other hospital functions, including treatments, monitoring anesthesia, radiology and performing laboratory analysis. Job opportunities exist in the areas of companion, food-animal and equine private practices; teaching hospitals, both schools of vet med - vet tech; racetracks; medical research and laboratory animals; veterinary medical laboratories; wild or exotic animal practices and zoos; industry sales; state and federal government regulatory positions and military veterinary service. |
