3-on-3 Basketball Tournament Fundraiser Planned
The Murray State College Phi Theta Kappa club is sponsoring a 3-on-3 basketball tournament the end of this month. The tournament, along with concession sales and raffles at the event, is to raise funds to help the club attend conferences.
The tournament will be held Saturday, March 29 starting at 8:00 a. m. Registration before March 24 is 30-dollars per team, after March 24 the fee is 40-dollars. There will be brackets for both men’s and women’s teams. Registration is open to anyone over the age of 18. Anyone under 18 will need a parent’s permission. Organizers say it’s a great opportunity for community members and alumni to support MSC students…and have a little fun!
“It is a fun thing, but we know there will be some serious players,” says PTK adviser Rebecca Jacobs-Pollez. “We are going to emphasize sportsmanship and the fun of the game.”
There will also be a couple of raffles at the event. One raffle is for a handmade quilt, and another will be held for four tickets to a Texas Rangers game. The tickets were donated by Amazing Grace Boutique in Madill.
"This is a student-led event,” says Jacobs-Pollez. “The PTK students came up with the idea and have done a magnificent job. Everyone should come and see the quality of Murray students who not only excel scholastically, but who have amazing organizational skills."
The tournament will be held in Beames Fieldhouse on the Tishomingo campus. The price of admission for spectators is two-dollars, and concessions will be available. To register a team, call (405)328-0602.
