2nd Annual Beast Feast scheduled
The Murray State College Niche Club is holding its 2nd Annual Beast Feast. The Beast Feast is April 12 at 6:00 p. m. in the Johnston County Fair Barn. There is no price for admission, and donations will be taken at the door.
Money raised from the event will be used to send students on an educational camping field trip to Yellowstone National Park.
“Niche members have done an outstanding job serving their community,” says club sponsor and MSC Science Instructor Michele Elmer. “With the help of a donation from the Mason's, they were able to help ten families in the Johnston Co area at Christmas time by providing food baskets and gifts for the children of those families. The Beast Feast fundraiser is to afford the members with what some would consider a trip of a lifetime to Yellowstone National park as a thank you for their service to the community, as well as providing an educational opportunity.”
At the feast, the club will offer up a variety of wild game dishes, and some unusual ones as well. Some of the items on the menu include white-tailed deer, key deer, bison, longhorn, wild hog, and food grade meal-worm stir-fry. Most of the “beasts” for the feast have been harvested by MSC students who participate in Niche Club.
Club members are also holding a raffle fundraiser in conjunction with the Beast Feast. Buckhorn Archery in Atoka supplied students with a new 2014 Creed XS by Mathews Bow for the raffle. Raffle tickets are 5-dollars each, or five for 20-dollars, and can be purchased from any Niche member. The drawing for the bow will be held at 7:00 p. m. on the night of the Beast Feast. The winner need not be present to win.
